St Helena Airport Ltd (SHAL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn (Lyn) Thomas as Chairperson of the St Helena Airport Board of Directors with effect from 1 August 2023, having previously been a Non-Executive Director of the SHAL board since 2020.

Lyn co-owns and co-manages Rose & Crown Ltd and its three subsidiaries and has primarily lived and worked on St Helena. She has previously served in various roles in the public and private sector notably as the Managing Director of the St Helena Development Agency, Chairperson of Bank of St. Helena Ltd, and Non-Executive Director of Connect Saint Helena Ltd. SHAL is grateful to Lyn for taking on such a significant and important role within the board.

SHAL also takes this opportunity to thank the outgoing Chairperson Bruce Wilks for his hard work and dedication in steering the board during his tenure. Bruce will remain on the board as a Non-Executive Director.

SHAL is also pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Sharman as the St Helena Government Representative, Non-Executive Director of the SHAL Board of Directors with effect from 1 August 2023.

Phil is a Chartered Accountant with professional memberships and has extensive experience in public sector finance and audit.  Phil also served for ten years as Chief Auditor on St Helena Island. Phil holds St Helenian status and is a Trustee on the British Napoleonic Bicentennial Trust.

He currently serves as Chair of an Audit and Risk Assurance Committee at the Welsh Government and has recently been appointed as a Non-Executive Director to represent St Helena Government on the Boards of its various State-Owned Entities.
