Every year, St Helena Airport is audited on its environmental management performance. The external audit is designed to monitor and report on St Helena Airport’s progress over the 12-month period (1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020), and compare performance with the previous 12-month period to see if environmental management has improved.
St Helena Airport Limited (SHAL) is therefore pleased to present its annual audit for 2019/20. It shows improved levels of performance since the previous audit; although some non-compliances exist, many of the outstanding issues identified in this audit as being non-compliant were due to circumstances outside of SHAL’s control.
Nevertheless, the auditor was very complimentary about SHAL’s performance, and commented: “Airport staff responsible for environmental management have demonstrated a high level of commitment and enthusiasm for managing the environment at the Airport in a proactive and positive manner”.
SHAL remains fully committed to prudent and conscientious environmental management to ensure it plays its part in securing the environment for this and all generations to come.
